KARACHI: Police authorities on Wednesday announced closure of a portion of M.A. Jinnah Road for the construction of the Green Line bus project.

In a statement, the traffic police said that the road leading to Numaish traffic intersection from Capri Cinema would remain closed for development work of the federal government-funded project.

All traffic meant to move on the track had been advised to take alternative routes.

“From October 4 [Thursday] the development work will begin on M.A. Jinnah Road on the track from Capri towards Numaish due to which the road will be closed. Traffic will be diverted from Capri to Saddar Dawakhana and Soldier Bazaar,” said a statement issued by the Karachi traffic police.

Though the statement did not mention any time period of the road closure, an official privy to the details said that the track would remain closed for a few weeks.

“The plan is to complete the work before the Chehlum of Imam Hussain,” he added.
