THIS refers to the letter ‘Broken promises’ (Oct 2). Khairpur used to be a neat and clean small town. Almost all roads were lined with trees. During the last two decades, this has changed, because the population has increased manifold.
No care has been taken to widen the streets and roads or to plant more trees. It is impossible to move from one place to another, particularly during school hours even on main roads like Station Road, Mall Road and Phool Bagh Road.
It is even difficult for a pedestrian to walk at Punjgola Chowk or in Shahi Bazaar. Roads and streets are being regularly encroached upon, further narrowing them. Is there anybody to remove these encroachments and improve the conditions of this town?
