HARIPUR: The officials of Haripur tehsil municipal administration on Saturday sealed nine shops reportedly built in violation of lease deed on Western Circular Road.

According to Shoaib Khan, Tehsil Municipal Officer, one Ehsan ul Haq of Mohallah Darwesh had obtained the lease of about five marlas of TMAs land several years ago but he did not construct house and instead his heirs, after his death, constructed nine shops and had been paying Rs10 per square feet to the TMA while they were collecting thousands of rupees as monthly rent from the tenants.

The TMO said after the government’s instructions the record of illegal occupants and those having constructed buildings and shops on the TMA land in violation of lease or contract, was collected and as a first step, nine shops were sealed. He said the action was being taken against all the encroachers and those who were inflicting financial losses to TMA.
