TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq on Saturday said his party’s defeat in the last general elections was story of the past and that the JI would fully participate in the next local government polls across the country.

He was addressing a meeting of district, tehsil and village nazimeen at Fishing Hut, Chakdara. It was the first visit of Mr Haq to his home district after the general elections in May.

The JI chief asked the participants to take workers into confidence as it was their responsibility to serve the masses. He said his party would try its best to win the next local bodies’ polls in majority of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts.

He also addressed a meeting of party members at Balambat where, according to sources, he faced hard questions from the participants. The JI chief insisted that some powers in the country did not want the MMA to come in power.

They demanded of the secretary health, accountant general and the chief minister to take notice of their problems.

TRAFFIC POLICE GIVEN HEAVY BIKES: The traffic police were provided with two heavy bikes and a fork lifter in order to ease their job of maintaining smooth traffic flow in the Timergara city.

The traffic police had demanded of the regional police officer Saeed Khan during his visit to the district a few days ago to provide them with heavy bikes and fork lifters.

Talking to Dawn, district in-charge traffic Shad Mohammad said provision of heavy bikes and fork lifter had been their longstanding demand.
