QUETTA: The revenue collection by the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Quetta recorded a 42 per cent year-on-year growth to Rs5.9 billion during the first quarter of 2018-19.

Collector Ashraf Ali on Saturday said that the the customs duty collection rose to Rs2.107bn and sales tax to Rs2.592bn during the July-September period of this fiscal year, exceeding the respective targets of Rs1.517bn and Rs1.782bn.

Similarly, the collectorate raised Rs1,035m under the income tax head, surpassing the target of Rs788m. The Federal Excise Duty collection was Rs105m

Ali said this unprecedented revenue collection has been made possible due to enhanced surveillance on clearances at Customs Stations Taftan, Chaman and NLC Dry Port Quetta, strengthening of the department’s en route check-posts and speedy disposal of seized goods and vehicles through auctions.
