PML-Q's Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, who has now been elected Punjab Assembly speaker, vacated NA-69 (Gujrat-II) after the July 25 election.

The contenders for the seat are:

  • Moonis Elahi (PML-Q)
  • Imran Zafar (PML-N)
  • Raja Salamat Ali (TLP)
  • Haroon Rasheed (Pakistan Rah-e-Haq Party)
  • Muhammad Afzal Gondal (Ind)
  • Adnan Iqbal (Ind)
  • Zaighum Abbas (Ind)
  • Zeeshan Afzal Gondal (Ind)
  • Iftikhar Ahmed Warraich (Ind)
  • Ahmed Faran Khan (Ind)
  • Ehsanullah Prince (Ind)

Moonis Elahi, Chaudhry Pervaiz's son, is also backed by the PTI which has not fielded a candidate for the NA-69 by-poll. A strong PML-N group in the area also announced its support of Moonis, making him appear to be the strongest contender in the race.

PML-N's Zafar ran a lukewarm election campaign due to lacklustre work by the local party cadre. The party also failed to receive support from the PPP's Gujrat chapter in the by-poll.

There are 380 polling stations in the constituency ─ 107 for males, 104 for females and 169 combined. 96 polling stations have been declared 'highly sensitive' and 94 others 'sensitive'. These polling stations will be secured by members of the armed forces.

There are 469,177 registered voters in NA-69.
