SUKKUR: A Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team at Sukkur caught a senior official of the Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) red handed while he was leaving his office after receiving Rs15,000 bribe from a power consumer on Monday.

The official was trapped on a complaint by Mohammed Sharif Mohtem, a resident of Mubarakpur, who alerted the FIA team when the official was set to receive illegal gratification for correcting his atta chakki’s exorbitantly high electricity bill.

The FIA team accompanied the second civil judge and judicial magistrate of Ghotki while netting the errant official red-handed.

Man, son killed in road accident

A man and his son were killed when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a speeding passenger coach at Qambrani Laro turning in Kandhkot along Indus Highway on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Palho and his son Abdul Wahid, residents of Kandhkot city.

The coach driver escaped after the accident leaving behind the vehicle, which was impounded, police said.
