SSB Trophy basketball begins

KARACHI: Quaid-e-Azam basketball XI defeated Allama Iqbal basketball outfit 35-20 in the inaugural match of the SSB Trophy Shaheed-e-Millat Basketball which commenced simultaneously in Karachi and Tando Jam on Thursday.

For the winning team, Asad Hafeez and Zainul Abideen both scored eight points while Faizan (7) also played well. For Allama Iqbal XI, the scorers were Hamza Khwaja (9) and both Usman Khwaja and Ubaidur Rah­man (6 each).

In the Tando Jam leg of the Trophy, Nagad Club of Hyderabad beat Agri­cultural University Tando Jam 30-25.

For the winners, Khurram (12 points), Rafael (10 points) and Daniyal (8 points) played well. For the losing team, Kashif (8 points), Hasan (7) and Imran (6) were the main scorers.

Earlier, the Karachi event was inaugurated by administrator Haji Mahmood Qure­shi while the Tando Jam leg was opened by Athar Khan­zada, head of Advance Seed Corporation.
