Monster alligator in golf course

The 15-foot-long alligator made a return appearance, lumbering through the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto, Florida and then plopping down on the green.

“He was a beast,” golfer Sage Stryczny, who captured the footage, told Tampa NBC station WFLA. “Me and my dad were about to hit off the tee on a par three and we saw him lying right on the green.”

He added that the reptile seemed to be trying to go from one pond to another, but was stopping to rest along the way.

Chubbs became a viral sensation in 2016 when similar footage surfaced, making the gator something of a tourist attraction — and perhaps course hazard — at Buffalo Creek.

“People have heard that he is out here and that is all they want to see so they will bring spectators to ride so somebody can get a picture,” Wendy Schofield, a clerk at the pro shop, told NBC in Las Vegas at the time. “He doesn’t bother anybody and they don’t bother him.”

Chubbs is so adored that someone even edited him into scenes from Jurassic Park.

Something coming out of a black hole seen for the first time

Black holes still remain as a subject of much confusion, even among distinguished scientists and researchers. Every time we get close to unravel its mystery, it presents us with more confusing questions.

Something of this sort happened recently that outright shocked the science community — something emerged from a black hole.

Now, why is this so intriguing? The answer is that black holes are known to have very strong gravitational pull, so much so that it doesn’t even let light escape it.

But new readings from the Swift, NASA’s Explorer, and the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR) recorded a light eruption from the centre of a super massive black hole in the Pegasus constellation (324 million light years away).

Researchers believe it to be corona, which is a high-energy beam of X-ray that shoots from a black hole after gaining enough energy from extremely high-energy particles.

“The corona gathered inward at first and then launched upwards like a jet. We still don’t know how jets in black holes form, but it’s an exciting possibility that this black hole’s corona was beginning to form the base of a jet before it collapsed,” said Dan Wilkins of Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Canada.

Black Holes are certainly interesting, and it is sure that they will keep on doing it. We have come a long way and have a long way to go, but indeed, we are getting closer to the crux!

World’s largest Lego awareness message

Officials in Dubai set a Guinness World Record by using Lego blocks to spell out an awareness message about using cell phones while driving.

The Roads and Transport Authority announced it was awarded the record for largest awareness message using Lego blocks when it created a giant Lego plaque reading, “Your life is worth more than a phone call,” in Arabic and English.

Organisers said the plaque was composed of about 140,000 Lego bricks, with about 20,000 of the bricks spelling out the message. A Guinness adjudicator examined the completed project and awarded the record to the agency.

“The underlying objective of this achievement is to send a loud and clear awareness message to motorists cautioning them against the risks of using phones while driving,” Maitha bin Adai, head of the Roads and Transport Authority, was quoted by the Khaleej Times as saying during the event.

“Traffic studies indicate that the probability of traffic accidents where motorists are using mobile phones while driving is four times higher than those not using it,” Maitha said.
