KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah called on Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday to explain his position with regard to the allegations of a joint investigation team formed on the orders of the Supreme Court that his government was not cooperating with it.
The meeting took place at the CJP’s chamber in the Supreme Court’s Karachi registry.
Adviser to the CM Murtaza Wahab and Advocate General for Sindh Salman Talibuddin were also present in the meeting.
On Friday, the CJP had asked CM Shah through the provincial law officer to meet him at his chamber as he had to discuss some issues pertaining to the JIT’s complaint of lack of cooperation from several departments of the Sindh government.
After the meeting, the chief minister told reporters that the CJP was satisfied after he informed him that the departments concerned were cooperating with the JIT.
He said every department was ready to extend required cooperation to the JIT.
He said he had told the CJP that the JIT had sought a detailed record of 10 years and the same had been provided to them, but definitely it would take some time. At this the CJP said the provision of record to the JIT was the job of the bureaucracy and not of the chief minister, he said.
About the situation in Tharparkar district, CM Shah said he had requested the CJP to visit the district with him and witness efforts the Sindh government was making to bring about improvement in health, education, infrastructure, livelihood and energy sectors there. He said he was happy that the CJP had accepted his invitation.
