KOHAT: The 12-day anti-measles vaccination campaign has been hampered by over 350 refusal cases from different parts of the district, which have been reported to the higher authorities for action.

The officials visited different areas on the directives of deputy commissioner Khalid Ilyas following complaints of refusal and despite their persuasion the parents did not vaccinate their children.

Assistant commissioner Abdur Rehman reported 140 cases of refusal from Shahpur, additional assistant commissioner Sahibzada Samiullah118 from Sheikhan and Bahadar Kot, additional assistant commissioner (revenue) Tahir Ali 53 from Bazidkhel whereas 42 such cases existed in Bilitang, Gandiali and Katta Kanri areas.

The deputy commissioner had asked the health authorities and the administration to cover these 350 cases otherwise legal action would be taken against the parents.

KCCI FUNCTION: Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Ghazanfar Bilour has criticised the government for rationing of gas and electricity to the factories, which could affect the country’s economy.

Addressing the members of Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and local business community here on Sunday, he said that the secret of prosperity of economy was hidden in the development of industrial sector and when the industries came to halt the exports and local consumption badly suffered. The function was attended by Senator Ilyas Bilour, Haripur chamber president Attaur Rehman, KCCI president Abdur Rasheed and other office-bearers besides local businessmen.

Ghazanfar Bilour said that establishment of industrial zones was useless without certain exemptions and smooth supply of gas and electricity to them.

Mr Rasheed highlighted the activities of the chamber for the welfare of businessmen.

ELECTED: The farmers elected new office-bearers of the Model Farm Services Committee (MFSC) here on Sunday. District agriculture officer Zahirullah Khattak also attended the function. The MFSC management accepted the resignation of ailing president of model farms Iftikhar Hussain and two other members. The new office-bearers included president Sajjad Yousuf, secretary general Ishtiaq Mehmood and joint secretary Sher Azam.

Mr Khattak hoped on the occasion that the new office-bearers would work for the welfare of farmers in close coordination with the department to provide them all facilities offered by the government. — Correspondent
