KARACHI: Bahria College beat Govt Women College Shahra-e-Liaquat 36-22 in the final to lift the title of SSB Trophy Quaid-e-Millat Inter-Collegiate Girls Basketball Tournament organised by Firdaus Ittehad and Sports Welfare Organisation in collaboration with KBBA and SSB at Arambagh court on Sunday night.
Sana Ali (18 points), Anosha (12 points) and Aimen (6 points) were the prominent scorers for the winners. For the runners-up team, Misbah scored (16 points), Mahrukh and Sara scored (6 points) each.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony Asma Shah, wife of ex-Sindh Minister late Dr Muhammad Ali Shah and chairperson KHA women’s wing, lauded the display of sporting skills by girls and said that by popularising sports among women Pakistan can earn more laurels at national and international level.
Meanwhile, Allama Iqbal XI beat Sir Sultan Aga Khan XI 61-53 in the second semifinal of the SSB Trophy Shaheed-e-Millat basketball tournament to qualify for the final here on Monday.
For the winning side, Syed Bakhtiar (24 points), Shahmeer (15 points) and Anas Usman (8 points) were the main scorers. For the losing team, Abbas Khan (13 points), Anas Azhar (11 points) and Tahir Naqqash (8 points) stood out with their contribution.
