LARKANA: The all-Pakistan elite institutions talent contest was held under the auspices of Cadet College Larkana on Saturday wherein 22 colleges and schools from all over the country participated in four categories — squash, essay writing, declamation and Hifz-i-Iqbal.
MPA Hizbullah Bughio was the chief guest on the occasion while Larkana Commissioner Ahmed Sultan Khoso was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the MPA said education was the only weapon through which change could be brought in the society. He said nations that had emphasised on education and skill were leading the world today.
The Larkana commissioner called for both getting better education with better training, as according to him, without having better training “we could not reap benefit of education alone”. He said today’s youth had a huge responsibility of fighting against terrorism and illiteracy.
College Principal retired Brig Ghulam Raza earlier welcoming the participants and the guests said that the Cadet College Larkana was continuously plying its role for the country’s integrity and prosperity and contributing towards imparting better education.
Addressing the students, he said “you learn from each other and you all are book yourself”.
In declamation contest the first three positions were secured by Mirha Noor Jawed of Hayat Girls School and College Hyderabad, Ahsan Malik of Army Burn Hall (boys) College Abbottabad, and Mohammad Abdullah of Divisional Public School and College Faisalabad, respectively.
In essay writing contest Ali Azan of Sargodhian Spirit Trust Public School Rashidabad, Mohammad Abdullah of Divisional Public School and College Abbottabad and Ahmed Memon of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology Larkana secured first, second and third positions, respectively.
In squash competition Cadet Zaheer Abbas of Cadet College Larkana was adjudged winner while Cadet Uzair Ahmed of Cadet College Pano Aqil was declared runner-up.
In Hifz-i-Iqbal competition the first three positions were snatched by Cadet Niaz Gul of Cadet College Larkana, Muskan Bughio of Higher Secondary Model School Cadet College Larkana and Cadet Abdul Basit Mangi of Cadet College Pano Aqil, respectively.
