HYDERABAD, June 20: A three-member delegation of Sindhi writers from India visited the University of Sindh and the Institute of Sindhology in Jamshoro on Monday. The writers are: Hari Motwani, Hero Thakar and Nand Chughani. The delegation thanked the governments of Pakistan and India for creating a good atmosphere for cross-border visits.

They said it was necessary for the two governments to allocate more funds for the social sector to improve the lot of common man.

The writers went round the Institute of Sindhology, its museum, galleries and appreciated the efforts of the university and Sindhology for preserving and promoting heritage and culture of the country.

The delegation also called on Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui.

The director of the Institute of Sindhology, Mr Shaukat Shoro, was present on the occasion.

Noted scholar Hero Thakar informed the vice-chancellor that through research in India, he had discovered 203 new poems of Shah Latif, poetry of noted poets Qazi Kadan, Shaikh Bhirkio and Dado Dayal.

Mr Siddiqui said writers and intellectuals should play heir role for peace and harmony among societies for development and betterment of common man.
