ABBOTTABAD: The Institute of Nuclear Medicine Oncology and Radiotherapy (INOR) and Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) have agreed to design a framework for providing treatment to the cancer patients.

In this regard, a meeting between INOR and the hospital’s officials was held here on Wednesday.

ATH medical director Dr Ahsan Aurangzeb, director Dr Athar Lodhi and professor of medicines Dr Attiq discussed the standard operating procedures with director INOR Prof Dr Anees, PMO INOR Dr Asif and other members.

Dr Lodhi offered to share resources of hospital with INOR for mutual capacity building.

Director INOR Dr Anees said over 12,000 patients were registered with the institute and were getting cancer treatment. He said treatment was also being provided to poor patients from Zakat and Baitul Mal funds.

He assured all possible cooperation to the ATH for the cancer patients’ treatment.

ATH’s medical director, Dr Ahsan Aurangzeb, who was nominated the focal person to complete the task on an urgent basis, said the facility would be provided to both in and out-patients.

Our patients will get registered with INOR and would be provided medicines and other treatment from the Zakat and Baitul Mal funds, he added.

He said that nursing staff from ATH would be sent to CMH Rawalpindi and Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital to get specialised training in oncology.
