KARACHI: Government Boys Primary School (GBPS) Khudadad Colony sets a date with GBPS KTS Korangi No 2 in the primary boys category of the Essa Lab inter-school primary and secondary boys and girls hockey tournament at the Olympian Islahuddin-Dr Mohammad Ali Shah academy on Wednesday.

GBPS Khudadad Colony edged past GBPS F. C. Area 3-1 in the first semi-final with Adnan scoring a brace and Saleem adding the third goal. Mohammad Nashit reduced the deficit for the losers.

The second semi-final saw GBPS Korangi No 2 register a solitary goal victory over GBPS North Karachi. Yasir scored the all important goal for the winners.

The Government Girls Primary School (GGPS) North Karachi will be up against GGPS Pathan Colony in the title clash of primary girls after winning their respective pre-finals..

The former chalked up 2-0 victory over GGPS Anjuman-e-Islamia Liaquatabad No 1. Yasmin and Shazia netted a goal each for the winning outfit.

Paree hogged limelight by slamming hat-trick, first of the competition, as the GGPS Pathan Colony trounced GGPS Khudadad Colony 4-3.

Paree’s goals came in the fourth, 12th and 28th minutes while Irum completed the rout in 35th minute. Afsana struck twice while Zainab scored the fourth goal for losers. Afsana (2) and Zainab (1) scored for the losers.

Meanwhile, the secondary boys and girls events has reached the semi-final stage. Fancied Ghulaman-e-Abbas School outplayed GBSS Qamar-ul-Islam 8-0 while Qamar Bin Hashim School thumped Zaheer Public School 7-0 in the two semi-finals.

Three-goal Shayan Mehdi stole limelight slamming hat-trick, second of the event. He was followed by Sher two while Mohammad Akber, Furqan Hyder and Shafaat Hussain scored one goal apiece.

Faris (2), Shahryar (2), Kumail, Ather and Qamar one each, earned the scoring honours in the second semi-final.

Contrary to the boys, both the secondary girls semi-finals turned out to be a low scoring encounters.

Habib Girls School scored a lone goal victory over GGSS Orangi Town No 9. Zara Awan netted the only goal for winners.

The GGSS Idara-e-Shirqiya carved out 2-1 victory over GGSS SMB Fatima. Shafia and Anila slammed a goal each for winners while Hadika reduced the deficit for losers.
