PESHAWAR: The police on Monday arranged a seminar here to pay tribute to their slain officer, Tahir Khan Dawar.

SP Dawar, the head of the city police’s rural circle, was found dead in Afghanistan last week after kidnapping in Islamabad.

A large number of police officers and journalists attended the event at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines Club.

The participants lit candles to remember the slain police officer and offered Fateha for his soul.

SP Dawar’s colleagues from police department talked about their time spent together on duty and highlighted various aspects of the deceased’s personality, especially wit and spiritedness.

A poem written by the deceased also recited on the occasion leaving participants with teary eyes.

City police chief Qazi Jamilur Rehman declared SP Dawar’s death a huge loss for the department and said the deceased was an able, honest and courageous officer.

He said the KP police had many sacrifices for the country to their credit and SP Dawar’s martyrdom had further enhanced their stature.
