DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a man in Tank Bazaar here on Tuesday.

Mohammad Ramzan, a resident of Qutab Colony, told police that his brother Mohammad Yousaf was going to his shop when some unidentified motorcyclists sprayed him with bullets. The attackers managed to escape after the incident.

According to FIR, Mohammad Yousaf succumbed to his injuries when he was being shifted to hospital. His body was handed over to his relatives after autopsy. Meanwhile, police have arrested 241 proclaimed offenders and seized huge quantity of drugs and ammunition during the ongoing drive against anti-social elements.

A spokesperson for police said that 567 persons including 241 proclaimed offenders wanted by Tank police in murder, attempt of murder, drug trafficking and other heinous crimes were arrested during the drive. The drive was initiated few months ago.

The spokesperson said that the seizure included 24 Kalashnikov rifles,120 rifles of different bores, two Kalakoves, 76 guns, 204 pistols, 24 daggers and 7,303 cartridges of different bores.

He said that drug traffickers were also arrested. He said that so far 156 kilograms of hashish, four kilograms heroin, five kilograms opium, five grams ice and a bottle of liquor were seized. He added that cases were registered under Drugs Act against the suspects.

The spokespersons said that police conducted 22 joint operations with army and arrested more than 200 suspected persons during the drive. He added that the drive would continue as police were committed to ensure safety to life and property of the people.
