KOHAT: The police administration on Thursday launched Eagle Rider Squad comprising commandos for effective crime control in the city and its outskirts.
District police officer Wahid Mehmood inaugurated the squad equipped with latest weapons and communication system.
He said that criminals had become more sophisticated and therefore the squad had been introduced for dealing with them and meeting any untoward incident. He said that the rider squads would operate in the jurisdictions of their police stations and watch the activities of suspicious people and criminals.
NAB PROBE SOUGHT: Pakistan Peoples Party has demanded investigations by the National Accountability Bureau into the misappropriation in billion tree tsunami project as detected by the office of accountant general in its audit report.
PPP minority wing provincial president Naseeb Chand said in a statement here on Thursday that the office of the accountant general had reported embezzlement of Rs247 million in the billion tree tsunami project which required probe by NAB.
Criticising the PTI government, he alleged that its BRT project had also flopped. He added that billions of rupees had been spent without any results in the education, health, welfare and other sectors.
He said that a comprehensive report should be prepared by NAB about all the projects approved or completed during the last five years which would expose the hollow slogans of PTI. He claimed that PPP was the only party which had the experience of serving the country and its people.
FAKE DESI GHEE SEIZED: The police busted a factory making chemical copy of costly desi cow ghee and seized a big quantity of it packed in steel jars and buckets from a house in Lachi tehsil on Thursday.
The raid was conducted after Lachi SHO Ayatullah Khan received a tip-off in this regard. The market price of the genuine one kilogramme of desi ghee was Rs4,000. Besides chemicals, the forgers would mix essence of desi ghee in it to fool the buyers. The police party also arrested two owners of the factory who were identified as Sajid Khan and Mohammad Nawaz of Nowshera district. They have registered a case against them.
