LARKANA: The PPP-backed ‘Trusted Panel’ suffered a shock in the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) Larkana chapter election, held on Saturday, when the top position (President) was clinched by the ‘Sindh Dost Panel’ candidate, Ghulam Dastgir Shahani, who defeated Inayatullah G. Morio.

Habiullah G. Ghouri of the PPP-backed panel was declared elected as the general secretary with 357 votes. He defeated Irshad Ali Chandio of the rival panel who secured 175 votes.

According to the results Ghulam Dastgir Shahani, a former judge of the Sindh High Court who had contested election from the Sindh Dost panel, secured 279 votes and defeated the Trusted Panel candidate Inayatullah Morio, who got 256 votes.

Gul Hassan Mugheri of the Trusted Panel had returned unopposed as vice president after his rival, Qadir Bakhsh Bhatti, withdrew from the contest.

The slots of joint secretary and library secretary also went to the Sindh Dost Panel.

Mohammad Afzal Jagirani polled 309 votes to win the joint secretary’s position against his opponent Mohammad Ali Pirzado’s 239 votes while Sajid Hussain Mahisar bagged 269 votes against his rival Imdad Ali Mashori’s 261 votes for the office of the library secretary.

Trusted Panel’s Riaz Ahmed Soomro secured 349 votes against Abdul Rauf Korai’s 180 votes for the slot of the treasurer.

Out of the 12 managing committee seats, the Trusted Panel won seven and lost the remaining five to the Sindh Dost Panel.

They successful candidates are Faiz Muhammed Larik, Aijaz Ahmed Mangi, Mohsnain Mustafa Bhutto, Ali Hassan Jamali, Syed Ghous Ali Shah, Abdul Rasheed Soomro, Sabir Ali Shaikh, Zaffar Ali Jalbani, Akhtiar Begum, Mohammad Arshad Khan Siddiqi, Ghulam Rasool Pathan, Zafar Ali Malgani and Javed Ali Gopang.

Syed Aijaz Ali Shah was the election commissioner for the Sindh High Court Bar Association elections-2019.
