BAHAWALPUR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Tuesday to have arrested two suspected terrorists at Jhangiwali Road.

According to a CTD spokesman, suspects Aftab Ahmed and Nasir Mahmood had allegedly planned to attack sensitive installations in Bahawalpur. On a tip-off, a CTD team arrested them.

The spokesman said explosives, detonators and safety fuses were also recovered from their custody. They were shifted to an unidentified location for interrogation.

MINISTER: Punjab Food Minister Samiullah Chaudhry says efforts will be made to declare Bahawalpur as the capital of the proposed South Punjab province.

Talking to the media here, he said Bahawalpur should be given the status of the capital of the new province owing to its historic importance.
