KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) was informed on Wednesday that the bodies of four missing persons, who were allegedly killed at the behest of detained Lyari gangster Uzair Baloch, have not been recovered yet.

A two-judge bench of the SHC headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto was hearing a petition regarding the alleged disappearance of Lala Amin, a head constable of jail police, Ghazi Khan, Sher Afzal and Shiraz Khan from the jurisdiction of New Town police station in 2010.

A DIG through a progress report said Uzair Baloch, who is currently facing trial before military courts, in his confessional statements before a magistrate had confessed to killing the four due to personal enmity in August 2010, adding that efforts were being made to recover the bodies.

The report said there were also allegations about the alleged involvement of two Rangers officials in the abduction of those men.

Phullan Khatoon, the mother of Ghazi Khan, had filed a petition and alleged that they had been picked up by Rangers on Aug 1, 2010. She contended that three paramilitary officials allegedly took bribe of Rs100,000 from her for arranging a meeting with the detainees.

The Rangers informed the court that Inspector Sher Afsar had admitted to receiving money from the petitioner and, in view of his misconduct, he had been removed from service.

Sher Afsar and Riaz Taman are facing trial before an anti-terrorism court in a case pertaining to the kidnapping for ransom of these four men.
