GWADAR: An eight-year-old girl was killed and 20 others received injuries on Wednesday when a cylinder exploded inside a shop while their school van was passing through the Turbat Bazaar.

The Makran Division commissioner said a shopkeeper was busy working when the cylinder in his shop exploded, severely hitting the school van near Turbat Park Hotel.

Fire erupted soon after the bang engulfing 21 people, including students who were going home after school. One of the girl students succumbed to injuries while being taken to a hospital.

The injured were taken to the Teaching Hospital Turbat, the commissioner said, adding that five children with critical wounds were shifted to Karachi for treatment.
