An announcement in this regard was made via Twitter on Sunday.
Hafeez thanked Qalandars owner Rana Fawad and the team's management, adding that he was hopeful that together they would get the desired results this season.

After a dismal and miserable performance against the Kiwis in the recently concluded three match test series in UAE, which also prompted him to announce his long overdue retirement from test cricket as well, let's hope and pray that the so- called professor of greenshirts show better performance in the shorter version of the game during the upcoming days?

If he is wise he would play at number 4 or 5 as he plays spin better than fast bowlers.

Both Yasir and Fakhar would make excellent captains.

Clearly Lahore Qaiser haven’t learned their lesson; I don’t think he merits being in the team and they’ve made him the captain which means they can’t even bench him when his performance inevitably drops... their season is over before it started!

Still Hafeez is useful for ODI and T20 but was horrible test matches. Hope so PSL further motivates him to perform.

Very embarrassing situation. Hafeez has wasted a lot of time. He has been there for so many years but he failed to establish himself as a reliable player. He received more chances than any other player merely because he was the favorite of the management. If it was a good team like South Africa or England he would not have played 10 matches but for Pakistan he kept opening in all three formats with poor performances. He never learned from his mistakes and kept getting out the same way. He is 38 years of age with a very average career. He did not take on the responsibility for the team ever in his career while players like Misbah and younis and later Azhar and Asad shafique kept taking the blames for failures. It's very unfortunate that he is still part of ODI and T20 squad and more unfortunate is that he is now captain of a franchise cricket team after such poor performances.
