PM Khan chairs special meeting of cabinet to review each ministry's performance

A special meeting of the federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Monday, reviewed the performance of each ministry and decided that they would be tasked with a specific strategic plan for implementation over the five years, Radio Pakistan reported.
The review meeting was held in order to further improve the performance of every ministry and work towards the enhancement of people's quality of life.
During the meeting, the actions taken by respective ministries with regards to service delivery, austerity measure and future plans were discussed, with a view of how to improve each ministry's performance.
According to Radio Pakistan, it was decided that review meetings would be held on a quarterly basis to gauge the performance of every ministry, adopt midway course corrections when required and to ensure that the overall performance of the government was on track.

A tweet shared by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) said PM Khan was reviewing the performance of each ministry on the basis of the government's 100-day agenda.
In a separate tweet, PTI said the performance of each ministry was being reviewed on the basis of three aspects which were: contribution to savings through austerity drive, number and [the] nature of new projects initiated as well a future roadmap.
They added: "Accountability is the main pillar of democracy. PM Khan upheld merit when he chose his ministers and he is upholding merit once again as he reviews the performance of all ministers at the completion of governments first 100 days".
On November 29, a special event held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad to review PM Khan's first 100 days in power.

Good governance in Pakistan in required on in very urgent basis.
The action of prime minister Imran Khan is very timely and was required for implementing the projects which have a huge overrun due to delays in implementation.
Quarterly reviews by the Prime Minister will ensure solution to the obstacles and create a spirit of timely implementation and providing solution to the problems being faced.
This is exactly the process adopted by Prime Minister Modi in India for timely execution of project being implemented by government.
I wish the Prime Minister best of result in implementation of projects for the benefit of society in Pakistan on timely basis .

This is a routine review of short, medium and long term objectives, tasks, obstacles and performance of each minister. This type of review is regularly carried out in various diciplines across the world and, is a part of management responsiblity to see that ultimate goals are acheived within the given resources and timeframe. This is a role of CEO of a company and PM and providing guidelines to achieve tangible results - so, PM Imtan Khan is following and fulfilling his responsibility as a chief executive. Let's hope that this new approach in our political and buearocratic circles will change our current work practices and mindsets for the sake of our country and future generations!

Review is must. Carrot and stick policy. Those who are not performing must be reminded of their duties. You can't ask them to leave as your Premier Ship is dependent on them.

Good to review progress in 100 days but don't choke the ministers with short time frames. PK must change but gradually under guidance from the top. Naya PK appears on track.

Dear PMIK setting 5 years goal is good but even better would be to break down these goals to quarterly milestones. This way you can avoid surprises at the end of 5 years and take corrective actions sooner than later.

A government in papers & media only. They claim contract with 26 countries to stop money laundering which were signed in 2016 & came into effect this September. Similarly the their chicken & egg program was actually launched in Punjab in 2014 under LAMP project. All this government can do is to ride on previous government's project & good news for them there are several infrastructure projects which they are delaying to open & then will claim for themselves. What a shame this government is !!!!

Now that's what I call progress and real Tabdeeli. Accountability was not only lacking during the previous governments, but also every minister was given free hand to loot public money. That was the reason I see so many inaguration sign boards by previous ministers but no actual work done.

Part of the performance review also focuses on the over all performance, not just new projects. I'm interested in Mr Iran Khan's opinion on the recent spat between his two ministers, Railway Minister and the Information Minister, and what about the Minister who made a fool of himself at the airport while treating the airport official like dirt.

A positive step. But the PM needs to do more, be more selective and ruthless in cleaning up and paring down his cabinet. Independent audits of each ministry must also be allowed twice a year and results made open to public.

Please publish in detail responsibility of each ministry. What progress was planned, what was achieved and what corrective action will be taken. I am asking this because I am 100% sure that public has no idia what so many ministers are doing.

PTI should hold classes to apprise minister about constitution history its details, Rules of the business and government procedures so that they become less dependent on others.While submitting detail plans and projects ministry should provide minute details of implementation and availability of funds and also time table.

The performance measurement, against pre-set targets, is a common practice in the business community.
Would be nice to know, if the PM is assessing the ministers’ performances against pre-agreed tangible and intangible targets.
Actually, it would be desirable to make the ministry-by-ministry targets visible to the public.
This would institute transparency.
Besides, well-known and visible targets may help each minister to mobilize community volunteers to focus on the targets.
Idealism, in spite of its limitations, can be a force to achieve unusual results.
