HARIPUR: A Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf activist was stabbed to death during a scuffle here on Saturday, police said.

Police quoted witnesses as saying that Shahzeb, a resident of University Road, went to complain with Adnan, Waqas and their accomplices for teasing his cousin, Abdullah. However, after argument the opponents attacked Shahzeb and his friends with knives and daggers, injuring them seriously. The incident occurred outside Government Postgraduate College, Haripur.

The injured were taken to DHQ hospital where Shahzeb was pronounced dead, while his four injured friends were referred to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad. The injured were named Zakir, Noman, Nasir and Usman.

The accused, including Shan alias Shana, Usman, Adnan and Waqas, were still at large.

Meanwhile, two labourers were killed after falling into a well in Changi Bandi village. Police said Irfan was cleaning the well in his house when he fell unconscious. Shehzad of the same village went to his rescue and was pulling the unconscious Irfan out of the well with a rope when it broke and both fell down, suffering severe head injuries.

Later, they were taken out of the well by the local rescue workers but both died before reaching hospital.

Also, a teenage boy committed suicide in a remote village of Khanpur tehsil on Saturday. The victim was named Sagheer, 17, of Bandi Muneem village. He is said to have not been at good terms with his father over some family affair.

He hanged himself from a ceiling fan.
