KARACHI: A total of 28 aspirants have come in the field to contest by-election scheduled for Jan 24 against the Sindh Assembly seat PA-94 Korangi III, which has fallen vacant with the death of MQM-MPA Muhammad Wajahat.

According to the initial list issued by returning officer Pervez Ahmad Kalhoro, the candidates belonging to different parties who have filed their nomination papers by the last date are: Adnan Khan, Khalid Hameed, Muhammad Tanveer, Arif Azam, Fareedullah, Muhammad Irfan Waheed, Muhammad Aqil, Syed Ahmar Ali, Aamir Jameel, Muhammad Ashraf Jabbar, Rehan Mansoor, Muhammad Rafique Pasha, Sanaullah Qureshi, Amir Akhtar, Gule Raana Azahr, Zunair Ali, Masood Khan, Naseem Ahmad, Syed Muhammad Ahsan Danish, Muhammad Jameel, Muhammad Aslam Pervez, Javed Ali Shahikh, Javed Shaikh, Syed Hashim Raza, Farhan Ahmad Khan, Aurangzeb Khan, Farrukh Manzoor and Muhammad Hamid.

The scrutiny of the nomination papers would be completed by December 19 while appeals against acceptance or rejection of the nominations could be filed with the appellate tribunal by Dec 22 which will be decided by Dec 24.

The list of valid candidates will be issued on Dec 25 while nomination papers could be withdrawn by Dec 26 and election symbols will be allotted to candidates on Dec 27 and polling would be conducted on January 24, 2019.
