PESHAWAR: Parents accompanied by their children studying in the PakTurk School here have opposed the government’s decision to hand over PakTurk schools to what they called an ‘inexperienced’ foreign organisation and urged the government to review its decision in the best interest of their children.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, Tahir Ahmad, father of a student, said that the government’s decision of handing over the schools to an ‘inexperienced’ foreign organisation Maarif Foundation had created unrest among the people.

He said that these schools were running for last two decades efficiently, but the decision was taken in haste to hand them over to another foreign organisation. He termed the decision illogical.

He claimed that the organisation which would take charge of the schools had merely two years of experience in the field of education. He said that it would be unjust to damage the successful PakTurk schools system due to internal political issues in Turkey.

Flanked by other parents, including Ms Owais, Mohammad Azeem, Zahid Mehmood and Shah Mohammad, Tahir Ahmad said that the PakTurk schools had a wide fame in the country, which had produced talented people and took part in development and progress of the country.

He said that the students of these schools besides grabbing top positions in the educations boards also got over 30 medals in international competitions. He said the PakTurk schools system had never been run as a subordinate institute of the government.

The students’ parents, teachers and administrative staff and ex-students appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan to save the future of the well-established institution and its students.
