Benazir Bhutto's younger sister Sanam Bhutto arrived in Pakistan on Saturday and met her nephew, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, at Bilawal House in Karachi, DawnNewsTV reported.

The PPP leaders are reportedly of the opinion that in case of the arrests of PPP-Parliamentarians President Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur in the ongoing money laundering case, Sanam Bhutto should be fielded as a party representative.

On Friday, the interim bail of Zardari and Faryal Talpur was extended till January 7 in a case pertaining to the alleged laundering of Rs4.14 billion through 29 ‘fake’ bank accounts.

Amid rising apprehension about the possible arrest of the siblings, senior PPP leaders including Syed Khursheed Shah, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Saeed Ghani, Rehman Malik and a large number of party activists had gathered on the premises of the banking court.

However, a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prosecutor sought time for filing a final charge-sheet against them. Meanwhile, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the case had submitted its report in the Supreme Court.

Besides the ex-president and his sister, real estate tycoon Malik Riaz’s son-in-law Zain Malik and 14 other bankers and businessmen have been booked in the case, while former chairman of the Pakistan Stock Exchange Hussain Lawai, Taha Raza, Anvar Majeed and Abdul Ghani Majeed have been detained for their alleged involvement in facilitating the transactions.

DawnNewsTV also reported that Sanam Bhutto will attend the ceremony to observe the death anniversary of her sister Benazir Bhutto on December 27.

Sanam is the youngest of Benazir’s siblings — and the only surviving child of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and his wife Nusrat.
