LAHORE: Affectees of the Eden Housing Society scam on Saturday threw the traffic out of gear on the Canal Road by holding a demonstration outside the Zaman Park residence of Prime Minister Imran Khan, demanding recovery of the amounts they had deposited with the scheme owners nearly a decade ago to get plots.

Holding placards, the protesters insisted to meet the premier, who was on a visit to the provincial capital, so that they could personally informing him of their plight. They were asked by the administration to disperse but they refused to budge.

The protest continued for several hours, suspending traffic on the Canal Road track leading to The Mall. The seismic effect spread to various other roads, creating problems for commuters for several hours.

On not being allowed to meet the PM, the protesters chanted slogans against Imran Khan. Some of them also complained of manhandling by police.

The protesters demanded the PTI government to extradite Eden Housing group owner Dr Amjad and others from Canada and recover their amounts from them.

The demonstrators dispersed peacefully after the prime minister reached home in the evening, and Naeemul Haq met them, inviting them to Islamabad on Dec 26 where, he promised, Mr Khan would listen to them.

One of the protesters said CM Usman Buzdar had also invited them for talks on Monday.
