KOHAT: ‘Pakistan peace mission caravan’ reached Kohat on Friday after covering 63 districts to create awareness about the children suffering from Down syndrome and promote peace in society.

The caravan led by Jalal Welfare Foundation chairman Jalal Akbar Dar is accompanied by special children, including girls, who started their journey from Jhelum on Oct 15.

It was received by district social welfare officer Amjid Afridi, chairman Ittefaq Welfare Organisation Esar Bangash, former MNA Javed Ibraheem Paracha and others.

Mr Dar said the purpose of the caravan was to create sense of responsibility towards peace in the society and care of special children.

An awareness camp was also held at the Katchery Chowk.

Later, the caravan presented peace flag to the district nazim at a ceremony held at Kohat Press Club.

COMBATING TERRORISM: District police officer Captain retired Wahid Mehmood has said the police’s rapid response force unit has played pivotal role in combating terrorism.

He stated this while addressing prize distribution ceremony on Friday. He said the corps was a frontline force capable of facing all challenges.

Later, he distributed cash prizes and commendation certificates among 25 personnel of the rapid response force.

ARMS SEIZED: The Lachi police seized weapons being smuggled from Darra Adamkhel to down country and arrested three accused on Friday.

A police team while checking vehicles coming from Peshawar at the toll plaza stopped a suspicious car, and found weapons and ammunition hidden in its secret cavities.

The accused belonging to Bannu were identified as Jasimullah, Noor Nawaz and Sakhi Zaman. The seizure included three Kalashnikovs, four repeaters, eight pistols, 1625 cartridges and 28 chargers.

MURDER MYSTERY SOLVED: The police have solved a murder case in which the victim was eliminated by the accused because he considered him as hurdle in way of marriage with his beloved.

ASP Mohammad Nabeel Kokhar told a press conference on Friday that a body was found in a car in Parshai area on Dec 11, and the victim was identified as Ghulam Jilani. His brother Imam Hqqani had filed FIR against unknown men, he said, adding the police collected mobile data record and investigated the family sources to reach the murderer.

He said police arrested Umer Hayat, who admitted to murdering Jilani for opposing his marriage with a girl.
