HARIPUR: Provincial minister for communication and works Akbar Ayub Khan on Saturday inaugurated the Akhoon Bandi Bridge on the River Daur here, which has been completed in two years at Rs100 million.
The bridge connects the population of three main villages to Haripur city.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the minister said that he had got approved the project during his previous tenure and completed it on priority basis. He said before completion of the bridge, the densely populated villages of Akhoon Bandi, Magri and Mohri had virtually been cut off from the Haripur city.
Mr Ayub said with completion of the project the area people would be facilitated in marketing their agriculture products in the local markets without any obstacle, thus improving their living standard.
He said the people of the villages remained ignored for several decades, adding the provincial government had also addressed the demand of electrification and road communication of the residents of these villages.
Former provincial minister Yousuf Ayub Khan and Haripur tehsil council naib nazim Ahsan Shah Mitha also spoke on the occasion.
