CHITRAL: The passing-out parade of the Chitral Scouts’ cadets was held in Drosh cantonment area here on Saturday. One hundred and seven cadets were inducted into the force after undergoing nine-month training course.
Inspector General of Frontier Corps (North), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Major-General Rahat Naseem Ahmad Khan took the salute at the march past and administered oath to recruits.
He said the force, which was raised by the British in 1903 and is now formed part of Frontier Corps, had a glorious history of gallantry and heroic actions both in the times of war and peace and that its personnel had proved their mettle.
He said the war on terrorism had added to the responsibilities of the Chitral Scouts personnel, who were defending the country’s long and porous border with Afghanistan and had successfully warded off Afghan intruders.
Major-General Rahat asked recruits to focus on their professional grooming to do the duty well.
Commandant of Chitral Scouts Colonel Moeenuddin, local elders, parents of the cadets attended the event, where a group of Kalash girls danced.
Cadet Mohammad Qasim won the honorary sword of the IGFC, while Mohammad Akram was declared the best cadet for assault course, Junaid Ahmad for physical training, Tariquddin for firing and Hayat Nabi for academics.
