CHITRAL: The patwaris have decided that they will go on a strike on Wednesday (today) until assistant commissioner, Mastuj, Inayatullah, was removed from his post for locking down the settlement office at Booni and misbehaving with the staff.

President of the association of patwaris, Chitral chapter, Qadir Aman said they held an emergency meeting on Tuesday, where the participants demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary to take stern action against the officer for his hooliganism in the Booni settlement office.

They also demanded of the officer to tender an unconditional written apology for misbehaving with the settlement staff.

When contacted, the assistant commissioner told Dawn that the settlement staff disobeyed his orders for producing the land records of a disputed piece of land at Booni to ascertain its ownership.

He also denied closing the office forcibly, and said the staffers were trying to play up the matter.

He said that he would not tender an apology as he had committed no wrongdoing.
