Lahore traffic

Published January 5, 2019

THERE is a perennial traffic jam at Thokar Niaz Baig Chowk under the flyover. The problem is more acute for vehicles that want to cross from the Judicial Colony side to proceed on Canal Bank Road towards EME Housing Society. The reason is the heavy traffic flow coming from Raiwind Road.

There is a similar heavy traffic flow on the other side, which is from Daewoo Terminal road going towards the canal. There are no traffic signals, nor a traffic warden to manage traffic at this point.

Another cause of traffic jams are the frequent protest rallies that are held at this point. The police department should depute staff to regulate traffic whenever a demonstration is to be held.

The city authorities should resolve these issues at the earliest as this is a major thoroughfare.
