SWABI: The district police have asked money changers here to increase their security and avoid travel to sensitive places in late hours, sources said on Tuesday.
They said that two months ago a money changer was deprived of Rs9 million in Baja village and a similar incident occurred in Topi tehsil main bazaar.
One of the money changers who worked in the district headquarters had been killed by unidentified attackers.
The sources said that the police told the money changers that they should enhance their security to protect themselves from robbers.
The money changers were also told that they should inform the police if they confronted any threatening situation either at their workplaces or during travel.
They have also been asked by the police to install closed-circuit television cameras at their workplaces and ensure that these are in working condition.
When contacted, a police official said that they were fulfilling their responsibility to provide security to the money changers, who had assured cooperation in this regard.
