KARACHI: The Sindh chief secretary has asked the authorities concerned to expeditiously get vacated parks, footpaths and amenity plots from all encroachers in Karachi and submit reports thereof within three days.

He was presiding over a meeting on Wednesday in Sindh Secretariat to review the status of rehabilitation of parks in Karachi.

Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah issued instructions to the commissioner of Karachi, all six deputy commissioners concerned, KDA, KMC, SBCA, MDA and LDA to ensure that encroachments from all parks and other places were removed.

The DCs submitted their progress reports on the task, according to which out of 82 in District South, 52 parks had been vacated while remaining 30 were under operation. The DC West informed that only three parks were under encroachment, which would be cleared within three days. The DC Korangi said that all 213 plots/parks had been vacated. The DC Malir said “only one of total 79 parks” was being vacated.

The DC East told that three parks were being vacated while DC Central reported that 45 parks were under operation for clearance while the rest were clear.
