KARACHI: Karachi Basketball Club and Bounce Club outplayed their respective rivals in the semifinals to storm into the final of the SSB Cup Quaid-i-Azam basketball tournament here on Friday night at the Arambagh courts.

In the first semifinal, Karachi Basketball Club overcame stiff challenge from Clifton Crossover Club to win 56-51. Jazib Abbasi was the star performer for the winners, scoring 21 points while Wajih abbas (15 points), Fuzail Ahmed (10 points) and Zainul Abedin (8 points) also played superbly.

For the losing side, the main contributor was Shezore Asif who scored 20 points while Saad Khan (15 points) and Ramesh (10 points) also played well.

In the second semifinal, Bounce Club beat Neighbourhood Club 40-43 in a nerve-tingling contest which saw both the teams at their best.

For the winners, the top scorer was Muzammiluddin (13 points), Rehab Khan (10 points) and Asad Ali (10 points).

For the losing side, the main scorers were Umar Khan, Shakir Ali and Asad who all scored ten points each.

Assistant Commissioner Asif Raza Chandio was the chief guest on the occasion and was introduced to the teams by KBBA President Ghulam Mohammad. Asif lauded the efforts of KBBA to launch a tournament in the name of Father of the Nation Mr Jinnah and assured of every cooperation

The final will be played on Sunday night at 8:00pm in which former Pakistan hockey captain Islahuddin will be the chief guest.
