MULTAN: Veteran politician Javed Hashmi said on Saturday it is time to constitute a ‘release Nawaz Sharif committee’ due to the injustice being meted out to the former premier.

Talking to the media here on Saturday, the senior politician said Sharif was in jail and not seeking any National Reconciliation Ordinance.

“I remained imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail and it was my second home. The injustice Sharif is facing is not faced by even an ordinary prisoner. Sharif has mentioned the difficulties he is facing in the jail, especially related to his health,” he added.

“I am standing with Sharif at a tough time. His voice is the strongest in the country. The jail administration should provide a doctor to him,” he said.

He said the Asghar Khan case was dominating the political scenario. “I will stand against closing this case. If they shut it, I will keep it alive and become a plaintiff in the case,” he claimed. He also said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was lucky all elements were supporting his government, but it was not being run properly, adding the country could only be run democratically.

Hashmi said properties of premier’s sister Aleema Khan were unearthed in Dubai and the US.
