LAHORE: The Lahore Bar Association (LBA) on Sunday announced the result of its new office-bearers for 2019-20.

As many as 5,062 LBA members had exercised their right to vote in the polling at the Judicial Complex from 9am to 5pm on Saturday.

Asim Cheema of Hamid Khan-led Professional Group secured 2,585 votes and was elected president, his rival Ahmad Awais Qazi of Asma Jahangir-led Independent Group got 1,830 votes and the third contestant Khwaja Nayyar polled 556 votes.

The other elected office-bearers include senior vice president Ijaz Basra, vice president seat of the Model Town Bar Syed Mujtaba Kazmi, general secretary Malik Maqsood Khokhar, joint secretary Zaraam Waheed Butt, finance secretary Raja Nauman, library secretary Samiullah Khan and auditor Mirza Asghar Gujjar.
