KARACHI: Hyderabad and Dera Murad Jamali (DMJ) will play their opening matches in the Quaid-i-azam Trophy Grade-II Cricket Tournament from Tuesday at the start of the second-round fixtures.

Hyderabad, who are in Group ‘A’, face Bahawalpur at the Mirpur Cricket Stadium in Azad Jammu Kashmir, while DMJ take on Quetta in the Group tie at tthe NBP Sports Complex here in the city.

In the remaining three-day games, Faisalabad meet Sialkot in their Group ‘A’ clash at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad with Abbottabad playing their Group ‘B’ rivals Larkana at the UBL Sports Complex.

In the opening-round ties that provided conclusive results on Sunday, Karachi Blues trounced Larkana by an innings and 13 runs at the UBL Sports Complex, while Abbottabad cruised to a five-wicket success against Quetta at the NBP Sports Complex.

Meanwhile, both Group ‘A’ matches were drawn with Faisalabad and Bahawalpur both earning three points after obtaining first-innings over Azad Jammu Kashmir and Sialkot, respectively.

The winners of this competition will qualify for next season’s the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship, which is the country’s premier first-class event.
