CNIC copy

Published January 17, 2019

IT is a common practice in Pakistan to ask for a copy of CNIC for almost any work or deal. We continue hearing about banking and other frauds. In most cases fraud is committed on the basis of CNIC copies.

I suggest that the original CNIC be seen at the time of transactions or deals and CNIC numbers be noted and verified through the Nadra website. No CNIC copy should be obtained by the government or private firms.

The people at the helm of affairs should order the discontinuation of this practice to avoid the CNIC copies falling into the hands of unscrupulous people.
