KOHAT: The district development committee has approved Rs600 million worth projects in various sectors for all the three constituencies of Kohat.

The approval came at a meeting on Friday attended by district nazim Naseem Afridi, finance and planning officer Samiur Rehman, heads of lines departments and the administration.

The committee chairman, adviser to chief minister on education Ziaullah Bangash, set deadlines for completion of the schemes.

He asked Pesco to ensure energising 15 new tubewells within 15 days. He directed the heads of line departments to ensure timely execution of the beautification plan.

A 10-member committee was formed to take up the issue of low gas pressure with the SNGPL.

Mr Bangash said no compromise would be made on the transparency of the projects.

Meanwhile, additional deputy commissioner Shah Nawaz Naveed fined two CNG stations for violating section 144 and selling gas during the banned hours. He said the deputy commissioner had suspended supply of CNG at peak hours when it was most needed by the domestic consumers.

It may be recalled that the district nazim had revoked the order of the deputy commissioner and allowed the CNG stations to operate at the peak hours.

RIGHT TO PUBLIC SERVICES: Chief Commissioner, Right to Public Services Commission, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mushtaq Jadoon, on Friday said the officials had been made bound to fulfill their obligations by providing all services to the people.

He said the commission would be extended to the newly-merged tribal districts in three months to enable the tribesmen to benefit from the facilities being provided in the settled areas.

Mr Jadoon accompanied by commissioner Syed Mubashir Hussain and other officials was briefing the elected representatives and journalists at the district council hall on Friday.

He said the deputy commissioners had been appointed chairmen of the committees to look after provision of services in letter and spirit.

He said a 19-point agenda had been set for the officials to provide services like approval of building plans, provision of zakat funds, stipends, water connections, ensuring cleanliness, issuing firewood sale permits, birth/death certificates, domiciles, driving and weapons licences, demarcation of boundaries, registration of FIRs and maintaining daily police record.

He said in case of any problem the people could contact focal persons, district monitoring officers, deputy commissioners or write applications directly to him.
