TOBA TEK SINGH: Gojra City police claim to have arrested a fake officer of an intelligence agency on Friday.

Police claimed that Muhammad Zahid of Chak 359-JB went to the office of Station House Officer (SHO) Azhar Khan and introduced himself as an officer of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

On suspicion, the SHO contacted the ISI’s higher authorities and emailed them Zahid’s visiting card from where it was confirmed that he was an impersonator. Police arrested him and recovered fake stamps of General Headquarters and letter pads from his custody.

TRAIN: A Quetta-bound Akbar Bugti Express train from Lahore escaped an accident on Thursday night when the axle of one of its coaches suddenly broke.

Railway officials said when the train reached near the underpass outside Gojra railway station, the driver heard a loud noise emanating from compartment No 2, so he immediately hit the brakes.

Later, the train was taken to Gojra railway station slowly and its compartment replaced with one called in from Faisalabad. The train remained halted for four hours during this entire process.

ROBBERY: Suspected dacoits robbed two houses in Gojra village in the wee hours of Friday. Police claimed that eight suspects forced their entry into a house in Chak 297-JB and took the residents hostage at gunpoint.

They looted all the valuables, cash and gold jewellery worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

In another incident, three suspected dacoits looted cash worth Rs300,000 and other valuables from the house of Osama Nazir in Chak 371-JB.
