JHANG: The Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) on Friday withheld the announcement of the election result of the District Bar Association (DBA) and fixed hearing about the complaint for Saturday (today).

A candidate for the DBA annual election 2019, Iftikhar Abbas Jatiana through a representation informed the Punjab Bar Council that during the election day many voters who did not clear the bar dues were declared ineligible to cast their votes. He stated that the election process was not completed in a transparent way because of the controversial voters’ list.

He alleged that the election committee overlooked the illegalities pointed out during the exercise and was trying to announce the victory of his opponent candidate who failed to get a clear mandate during the election process.

On hearing the preliminary arguments, the PbBC withheld the results and directed both parties to appear for arguments on Saturday.

TRAFFIC PLAN: The district administration on Friday launched an operation against wagon stands being illegally operated at Ayub Chowk.

Officials say the administration is trying to shift the transport operation to some other place to solve the traffic mess of the city.

The assistant commissioner, the district transport secretary and the DSP traffic jointly initiated the task by implementing new traffic routes for heavy and commercial public transport to avoid gridlocks on city roads.

According to a plan, the passenger buses coming from Faisalabad Road will reach the general bus stand through Chiniot instead of passing through Ayub Chowk. The buses and wagons coming from Sargodha will reach Multan Road at the point of Aliabad through the bypass without entering the city.

Similarly, heavy and passenger transport coming from other cities will also reach the GBS through four points specified at the bypass of the city.

In order to ensure implementation of the traffic plan, the transport department staff and traffic wardens with the support of local police will perform duties at the diversion points.
