LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has appointed Omer Sarfraz Cheema central information secretary of the party, according to a notification by Secretary-General Arshad Dad.

Mr Cheema is one of the pioneer members of the PTI as he had joined the party in April 1996 and served as party’s central information secretary for five years as well as chairman’s spokesperson for a brief stint in 2015. He has also served as party’s deputy organiser of Punjab.

Mr Cheema had gone out of scene in the party after he contested party election against Javed Hashmi in 2013.

He has contested MPA elections on party tickets in 1997, 2002 and 2004.
