LARKANA: Syed Deedar Hussain Shah, who remained chief justice of Sindh High Court and judge of Supreme Court, died in Karachi on Wednesday morning and was laid to rest in his native town Ratodero near here in the evening. He was 80.

He has a left a widow, three sons and three daughters to mourn his death.

Relatives, friends, former colleagues including former ambassador Abdul Razzak Soomro, former Sindh minister for education Pir Mazharul Haq, Larkana Awami Ittehad convener Haji Munawwar Ali Abbasi, Shia Ulema Council Sindh president Syed Nazir Abbas Taqvi, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chairman Sanan Qureshi and a large number of area people took part in his funeral prayers.

He was twice elected member of district council Larkana in 1979 and 1987 and contested successfully as PPP’s candidate for PS-37 in 1988 and 1990. He was appointed additional judge of Sindh High Court in 1994 and was sworn in as its chief justice on Feb 4, 2002. The same year he was elevated as judge of Supreme Court and was made chairman of National Accountability Bureau on Oct 8, 2010, for a brief period.
