KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Karachi on Wednesday arrested a suspect in the Nehr-i-Khayyam plot case, which caused a loss of Rs2 billion to the national exchequer through illegal restoration of the plot.
“NAB Karachi arrested one Abbas Ali Agha wanted in an investigation against Manzoor Qadir, aka Manzoor Qadir Kaka, former director general of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), pertaining to Nehr-i-Khayyam plot,” said the spokesperson.
“Accused Abbas Ali Agha was one of the directors of M/s Ocean private Ltd, who with the connivance of Manzoor Qadir Kaka was involved in illegal restoration of a 4,000-square-yard plot situated at Nehr-i-Khayyam Block-5 Clifton.”
The estimated worth of the plot was more than Rs2bn.
Abbas Ali Agha along with other directors was illegal beneficiary of the said plot who disposed of the said property by cheating the purchaser.
The anti-graft body claimed that the held accused during the initial probe provided significant clues to the case.
