LAHORE: Mian Bilal of Lahore and Noor Malik of ZTBL won respective men’s and ladies’ singles title of the Gen. Farrukh Khan Memorial Punjab Open Tennis Championships at the Punjab Lawn Tennis courts here on Wednesday.
Bilal overcame Ahmad Kamil 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) in all-Lahore final while Noor proved too good for Lahore’s Shimza Durab to win 6-3, 6-4.
Ahmad started off strongly, winning the first set quite easily, but it was a different story in the second set as Bilal fought back to level the score.
The final sett, a tie-breaker witnessed intense fight between the two players before Bilal emerged victorious.
Noor, unlike Bilal, did not need to work very hard for the title and took only 40 minutes to bring down Shimza.
Finals of other categories also took place on the same day.

Men’s singles final: Mian Bilal bt Ahmad Kamil 2-6,6-3,10-8.
Ladies’ singles final: Noor Malik bt Shimza Durab 6-3, 6-4.
Boys’ U-18 final: Ifham Rana bt Mohammad Said 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
U-16 final: Faizan Fayyaz bt Hassan Ali 6-7,7-6, 10-7.
U-14 final: Bilal Asim bt Hassan Ali 6-4, 6-4.
U-12 final: Asad bt Husnain Ali Rizwan 8-6.
U-10 final: Abubakar Talha bt Hamza Ali Rizwan 8-3.
35-plus doubles final: Talha Waheed/Usama Waheed bt Fayyaz Khan/Ashar Ali Khan 6-3, 6-0.
Girls’ U-12 final: Aqsa Akram bt Astifila Arif 8-3.
U-14 doubles final: Bilal Asim/Ihtesham Arif bt Hassan Ali/Shaeel Tahir 6-2, 6-4.
