SWABI: Police arrested here on Wednesday two persons for allegedly killing a girl in the name of honour, sources said.

They said that three persons including the father, maternal uncle and a relative of the 18-year-old girl were involved in her killing. The incident occurred in the limits of Parmuli police station on April 24 last year. The relatives of the girl claimed after the incident that her death was natural.

However, soon after the burial of the deceased girl, local people started saying that her death was not natural and something went wrong somewhere. Police came to know about it and formed a three-member team to investigate the matter.

SHO Haji Mohammad, when contacted, said that the body of the girl was exhumed and according to postmortem report, she was killed. After receiving the report, police arrested the father and other relative of the girl.

During the investigations it was revealed that the victim had gone to her sister’s house but she remained in contact with a boy belonging to a nearby village. Later she left her sister’s house but could not reach home.

Her father and other relative traced the girl and found her riding on a motorcycle with the boy. They brought her home but left the boy. Later, her father, uncle and the other relative allegedly planned to kill her, said sources.

“They gave poisonous tablets to the girl and then strangulated her to death,” said a police official, who conducted the investigations.
